Review: It Had To Be You

It Had To Be You It Had To Be You by Melissa Kate
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 goldilocks stars!

description

It Had To Be You is my first book to author Melissa Kate. From the moment I read the blurb on NetGalley, I knew I had to read this book because who wouldn't want to read a frenmies to lovers story.

Emma and Oliver used to be best friends who spent most of their time together, but one day Oliver cut Emma off of his life without an explanation and that was the beginning of their cold war.

When her loser of an ex boyfriend came back to town with his soon to be wife and asked her to make their wedding cake and attend the ceremony, Emma felt trapped because who would in her pathetic single life attend the wedding of her ex.

Wasn't the cake enough?!

Oliver and Emma were no longer on good terms. Since the day he learned the secret that destroyed her family, he felt that he wasn't worthy of her friendship, but seeing her asshole ex-boyfriend cornering her wasn't something he could tolerate.

Stepping in front of tge ex couple and claiming to be Emma's devoted boyfriend, was his way at saving the damsel in distress though that could put his balls in real danger.

The fake relationship was supposed to teach Emma's ex boyfriend a lesson, but it made both Emma and Oliver question their feelings for each other.

“He devoured her mouth with tenderness and care, yet Emma felt thoroughly wrecked...
“We don’t have an audience to witness this,” she breathed.
Oliver twirled a finger around a lock of her golden hair. “No, Goldilocks,” his voice sounded hoarse. “This one was all for me.”

It Had To Be You is both funny and light-hearted. It's a story that would leave you with a goofy smile and serious heart palpitations.

Review: The Player

The Player The Player by K. Bromberg
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

description

But seriously!!

A cliffhanger!!!

That's my version of a c*ck blocker!

description

description

Everything was going like a K. Bromberg's book should go. A hot, steamy with amazing characters story, then towards 95% of the book, I knew that something was off. I never read books with cliffhangers because while people go on with their lives, pick other books and get over the cliffhanger I DO NOT.

Let me tell you something about Easton and Scout. They are two amazing characters who from the first moment they met, they knew that their lives won't be the same again.

The banter was hilarious..

description

The chemistry...

It sparked the first moment Scout walked into the room taking Easton's breath away.

“There’s just something about her I can’t let go, and I don’t even know her that well yet. Because there are women who are good for a quick fuck. There are women you would fuck, but are better in the friend zone. And then there are women like Scout. They make you wonder, make you crave them, and drive you absolutely fucking crazy because you want them when you shouldn’t. They’re an enigma. Confusing, alluring, tempting, and fucking perfection.”

So if cliffhangers are an issue to you wait until The Catch is released on June 29th. If not, enjoy the read. It's amazing.

Review: Walk of Shame

Walk of Shame Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Ridiculously perfect stars!

I swear that this month's book purchases broke my credit card's heart but who cares if the result is the stories I got to read so far.

When I read Someone like You, I knew that Lauren Layne should be one of my auto-buy authors. She not only writes amazing stories but they are funny, light-hearted and ridiculously perfect. Yep I'm quoting from the book right here.

In Walk of Shame, we aren't dealing with a gold-digger or an insecure heroine, Georgiana is a wealthy, gorgeous, loved by everybody heroine.
The cold war she was engaging in with her handsome boring so cold divorce attorney neighbor, was out of boredom.

The 5 A. M encounters in the lobby?

Well...

description

They weren't at all planned. That's at least what they both were trying to convince us with.

Fithing Andrew, teasing Andrew and pissing off Andrew were Georgie's best moments of the day but kissing Andrew?!

That's something she wasn't prepared for.

“I was wrong, I realize. First kisses aren’t always a disappointment.
Sometimes they’re perfect from the very start.A second ago my hands were shoving him away, and now they’re greedily pulling him to me, my fingers on his lapel, needing his mouth against mine, harder, hotter. More.
He makes a low growling noise, and I realize that kissing Andrew Mulroney is nothing like it’s supposed to be.”

Andrew Michael Mulroney Esquire was a workaholic divorce attorney.

Women?! Dating?!

description

He didn't have much time for either, though he sometimes enjoy the banter with his ridiculous pampered princess of a neighbor.

“Georgiana.”
“Yes, Andy?”
He exhales. “I’m going to kill you.”
I can’t help the laugh. “See, I don’t think so.”
“Don’t you?”
“Nope,” I say, sucking sugar off my thumb. “You don’t send flowers to someone you’re going to kill.”
“Maybe they were for your funeral.”

Georgiana Frances Watkins, is everything Andrew hates in a woman. A spoiled pampered socialiste who lives for partying and shopping.

Their 5 A. M encounters?!

Well...

“If anyone accused him of waiting for her, he’d deny it with his dying breath, but damn it, where was the infernal woman?”

See, this book is freaking ridiculously perfect that you will not only enjoy but totally fall in love with.

Review: Trophy Wife

Trophy Wife Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 thanks-to-those-who-encouraged-Alessanda-to-rewrite-this-series stars!

I swear to God, I wanted to hate this book, tried to hate Nathan and Candace because their story was f*cked up, angsty and hurtful and because whenever cheating and love triangles are involved, the book is a DNF for me, but I miserably failed to.

And here I am rating this book with 5 stars + swooning over the story and giving Nathan and Candy excuses to why they behaved with such ferocious insanity.

Nathan Dumont..

I swear I wanted to strangle the bastard and squeeze some sense into him but at the same time I felt I needed to hug him, comfort him and tell him that everything is gonna be alright.

Turned out I'm more f*cked up than Alessandra's characters.

Candace Tapers...

For me, she was a failure who chose to pay her bills through stripping and giving blow jobs instead of working hard to use her degree.

Do I hate her?

F*ck no.

Do I have the right to judge her?

NOT when one of my best friends is a prostitute, and believe me even if you don't and you ever decide to read Candace's story I'm sure you won't.

The first time Candace Tapers wasn't chosen for her stripping skills, she was stripped from her dignity, her freedom, her heart and her sanity.

“Lust is a dangerous thing. It can seduce your mind and lead it blindfolded to the cliff that will be its demise. Nathan takes me to that cliff, my body bending and molding beneath his, my heart coming up for air in between soft caresses with his mouth while his cock hammers out a slick, rapid motion.”

description

Signing a deal with the devil should've showred her with glamour but instead it soaked her in pain.

“He lives for her, works for her, breathes for her, loves for her. There is no one else in his world, no room for anyone else in his heart. I should have known, should have stopped my heart from skipping down fairytale lane, planting expectations, hopes and dreams that will never receive any nourishment.”

If you've read any of Alessandra Torre's books you should know by now that she isn't that author who writes a story with a plain plot, a climax and a happy ending, she's an author who puts you on the edge of a cliff and asks you to jump with her, live every emotionl moment of the story and cross fingers for events to reach the end that would give you the euphoric satisfaction after the jump.

as much as it's painful heartbreaking and hurtful with moments you would want to erase, Trophy Wife is a book that is strong enough to mark your soul and make you seek exceptions to give Nathan and Candace some room into your heart.

Review: Dear Agony

Dear Agony Dear Agony by Georgia Cates
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

description

description

I. Am. Ruined.
Like in really really ruined.

description

When I was given this book to read and review, I never thought that it would be this painfully and beautifully heartbreaking.

description

When Agony decided to turn her ugly face and give Rose Middleton a chance to finally have a decent life, she grabbed on it and enjoyed every bit of it to the fullest.

Being one of the Fairy Godmother's girls was impossible dreams come true.
With Vale, Rose learned how to live and how to become a woman she never thought she could be.

But when it was time for her to part ways with Duets and join her new companion, Rose never thought that everything she learned couldn't have prepared her for Bastian Pascal.

description

Diagnosed with an incurable disease, Bastian decided to use one of his best friend's duets as a companion in a strictly platonic relationship. He hadn’t much time left before going with the plan to end things his way, but hell if he wouldn’t make the most of it with the mysterious woman Vale kept talking about.

The joy Rose brought to Bash's life was unexpected. She made him feel things he thought he buried with his family.

“Rose is so different from any other woman I’ve ever wanted. She’s delicate. Fragile. Innocent. She doesn’t know how to play the seduction game, yet she has seduced my heart, body, and soul.
I need her.
I want her.
I love her.”

But...

description

Dear Agony is life showing her ugly face but failing to pass the ugliness to our souls.

Review: Guarded

Guarded Guarded by Kayla White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

description

Guarded is my first book to author Kayla White. It's a sweet insta-love story of body guard Parker Jones and Hannah Ricks, the rebellious rich bomb he was supposed to look after and not fall for.

“She was hot, her body was incredible, and now despite my best intentions all I could think about was her pressing every inch of her gorgeousness up against me. Touching, licking, kissing...”

After losing her mom in a car accident, Hannah gave up on life, abandoned her goals and ambitions and lost herself to partying and getting drunk. When her dad was no longer able to control her, he assigned her a body guard.

And that's how the war began.

Parker Jones took a sabbatical year from the army to rest. When he got the job to look after a spoiled rich lady, he never imagined how much that job would cost him.
Because that lady was determined to drive him insane.

“This isn’t your job though, is it? You’re in the army, or something...”
“Oh God, I would much rather be back there than here. You’re going to be much harder to deal with than war.”

Hannah was a woman in pain, when her mom died in a car accident, instead of taking care of her, her father lost himself in his work leaving her to deal with the grief alone. Partying and getting high was her escape from pain especially with a boyfriend who didn't have much time for her. But as soon as the sweet caring body guard came to her life, she started seeing things from a different perspective.

description

Will love be able to get Hannah out of her grief and give her hope to finally fulfill her dreams? Is Parker the man she needs to know how beautiful life is?

Guarded is a book about the importance of love in our lives and how it can magically change paths and perspectives.

Review: Mister Moneybags

Mister Moneybags Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

description

description

Once again, Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland nailed ut again. From the moment I read Cocky Bastard, I knew that these two ladies should be my auto-buy authors. They not only create AMAZING Heroes, they rock in every aspect of their stories.

Mister Moneybags is yet another success of these two amazing authors.

The story opens to Bianca George and Dexter Truitt stuck in an elevator. Bianca was on her way to interview the arrogant billionaire so full of himself Dexter Truitt who happens to be the same cute handsome Jay Reed who was holding her hand to get over her panick attack.

description

When Bianca revealed her low opinion about Mister Moneybags aka Dex aka him he introduced himself as Jay Reed, a simple guy who owns a small messenger company. Dex wanted to have a chance with the gorgeous reporter in front him and make her see the real him before he had to fully introduce himself to her. So instead of having an interview, he opted to answer her questions via email.

As f*cked up as it may be, Bianca started to develop feeling for both Dex and Jay and as f*cked up ad it may look, Dex started to feel jealous of Jay and wanted Bianca to like the real him and not a man he created to get her attention.

description

But before he had the chance to correct the wrong, Bianca discovered the truth.

Dexter has now to win Bianca back, show her how perfect they are together and regain her trust. He knew from the moment they were stuck in an elevator that she was the one.

“Take a chance on me, Georgy Girl. Take a chance.”

He would play all by the rules. He would even use their chemistry if it would bring Bianca back to him.

“You’re very tense, and your neck hurts. Why don’t I use the lotion and rub your shoulders for a bit.”
“I’d love that.”...

“That’s cold.”
“I could provide some warm cream if you prefer?” Dex’s tone was playful, but at the same time it was also husky, and I heard the need in his voice.”

Mister Moneybags is sexy, mind blowing romance that was mixed with humor, love and passion written a perfectly fabulous way to prove that Pene/Vi are two awsome authors.

Review: Unleashing Mr. Darcy

Unleashing Mr. Darcy Unleashing Mr. Darcy by Teri Wilson

Review: Big Shot

Big Shot Big Shot by Carly Phillips
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 frenmy stars!

This was my first book to Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. It's the story of big shot Wes Sinclair and his nemesis Natalie Prescott.

The cold war between the two adversaries started the day Wes refused to hire Natalie in Premier Reality, the firm he created with his three best friends Connor, Max and Kyle. Working for his opponent and stealing his deals was Natalie's way at getting revenge and showing the cocky Wes that he no longer rule the field.

“Did that hurt?”
Confused by her question—because to his knowledge he hadn’t suffered any kind of injury recently—he frowned. “Did what hurt?”
She fluttered her lashes at him coquettishly. “You having to admit defeat to little Natalie Prescott.”

To show Natalie who's got the upper hand, Wes suggested a bet. If she loses, she would be at his beck and call for two weeks but if he looses, he would have to hire her in the firm as a broker.

Losing a bet to your frenmy is definitely calling for a disaster. But Natalie is not a quitter and she would make the most of the two weeks she would be stuck to Wes and show him who would have the last word.

“I’m waving the fucking white flag, okay?”

Exploring the attraction between Wes and Nat would put so many things in danger especillay Wes's balls if Connor discovered anything, but Wes was no longer able to ignore his need for her or the urge to bend her, spank her and show her who was in control.

Big Shot is a sweet frenmy love story that would make you smile most of the time.

“I love you, Natalie Prescott. More than I ever believed was possible.”

Review: The Brave Line

The Brave Line The Brave Line by Kate Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

description

“She is a five foot seven long list of things he can’t have.”

I was married to a cop and I know how things work, how much they sacrifice their lives to save others and how often they put themselves in danger with each shift.
I really know how a simple 10-42 is a new beginning to both men in uniforms and their beloved ones.

Rowdy is an honorable sergeant who takes his job with seriousness. Mixing work with pleasure was never on his agenda until a green eyed mysterious beauty was ready for some no strings attached pleasure.

“See something you like, sergeant?”
“You look beautiful tonight,” I said in the most unaffected voice I could muster.
“Thanks for noticing,” she said as she began to slide past me in the small amount of space available.
“I’ve always noticed.” That was my cock speaking. It happens.

Rowdy learned how hard it is to loose someone you loved and how damaged you'll ever be after the loss. Committing to someone was a line he would never cross and before pursuing the attraction between him ad Michelle, he had to make her understand the rules.

“I don’t fuck and fall in love, no matter how good it feels.”
I rolled my eyes as he made a quick move and gripped my face firmly. His eyes were dead serious. “Tell me you heard me.”
I’d only daydreamed of being that close to him since the bachelor party. He was ruining my fantasy with honesty. I needed it to last. Just one more night.
“I heard you the first time.”

Rowdy thought that Michelle would be another name on his black book, but the more time he spent with her, the more he knew that behind the crazy facade there was a strong woman full of life, warmth and ready to fight back and move on from her pain unscathed.

“There was always a moment when a woman transforms from hot and fuckable to warm and beautiful. Michelle had just unknowingly become that warmth in front of me.”

Being a dispatcher for Michelle was not only a job that pays the bills, it was her way of making a change, saving lives and getting over the pain her ex inflected. Falling in love with sergeant Randall Owen Day was a live proof that life goes on. Michelle knew that what she shared with Rowdy wasn't a happily ever kind of things and that she would be hurt again but sometimes love is worth the pain...

“The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just have to find the ones worth suffering for.”

Reading The Brave Line is a real example of how men in uniforms live, fight to survive, save people and save their souls from the cruelty they face each day.

description

The Brave Line is about surviving pain and learn how to move with it and not from it. It's about the power of love and how it heals wounds and bring hope.

“I swear to God, the only thing I want to protect now is you. I’d go to war for you. I’d fight every goddamn battle for you even though you don’t need me to.”
