Review: In the Heir

In the Heir In the Heir by Ruth Cardello
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 stars!

Ruth Cardello did it again and came up with a book where the reader will have an absolute enjoyable ride.

In the Heir is book one in Ruth Cardello's new series (Westerly Billionaire).
The story opens to Delinda Westerly who decided she had enough of her grandchildren's neglect and came up with a plan that would bring them together.

It's been years since the divorce that nearly destroyed her son and his kids and it was time to intervene.
Believing that love heals all wounds Delinda decided to give an early inheritance to the one who marries first and succeed to envite the while family to the wedding.

Spencer Westerly was tired of being the second in the line. Living with his mother and her new husband after the divorce was better than living with his cheating father and his cold-hearted brother Brett.
Receiving his inheritance would give his company a great push. Of course there was no way he was getting married to get the money, but since his sister's best friend Alisha was ready to help, a six-month marriage contract wouldn't complicate things.

Many people thought that Brett Westerly was a cold-hearted asshole who put himselp first, had zero interest in his family and lived for work and money. He was Ok with that because that would protect him from getting hurt again.

His family? Nobody should know how much he was involved in their lives. But when Brett heard about his brother's fake engagement, he wasn't going to sit and see his Spencer making such a huge mistake for the sake of money.

When Brett invited his brother to try and convince him not to follow his grandmother's crazy plan, he wasn't prepared for the sassy firecracker that stood to him and messed up his head with her beauty and words.

“Her words rang in his head: “What kind of monster are you?” Apparently, the kind who wants to fuck my brother’s fiancée.”

Nobody ever stood to Brett, the fire he saw in Alisha's eyes matched his and there was noway he was letting the two make such a mistake. Something about Alisha made him want crazy things..

“A smile tugged at her lips. “Your tone of voice alone makes me want to say no.” His heart thudded in his chest . “Funny, the way you look at me makes me want to hear you say yes.”

He would prove that the engagement was fake then hopefully try to convince Alisha to explore the things they felt whenever they come near each other.

“Remembering the light scent of her, the feel of her soft skin beneath his lips, he wanted to taste, claim, and pleasure every inch of her. Alisha, lying naked across his bed, offering herself to him, brought him to an uncomfortable level of excitement.”

This book was both funny and emotional. The events, the secrets and the surprises that came through the story were somehow unexpected but there was mo doubt that In the Heir was fun to read and I'm sure the story of Spencer would be far more enjoyable.
